An Untitled Poem by Cayetano
From CyberCat: The following poem is taken from Magic Inkwell Comic Strip Theatre, an innovative site which uses various HTML audiovisual effects to push the boundaries of Web-published comics. The strips are often accompanied by poetry which ranges from silly to profound to romantic. This particular poem is meant to refer to the Internet in general (I think), but I felt that it inadvertantly captured the heart of what Project Metaverse is all about. The author and webmaster, Cayetano Garza, has graciously given me permission to reprint it here. Enjoy.
This is pure magic
Incredible and undeniably liberating
The knowledge that a place can exist
That is neither real nor nonexistant
Motion without momentum
Weight without gravity
Light without heat
Emotion without pretense
An undying, neverending instant
Repetition by degrees
On an infinite canvas
Where space and time
Cease to exist
But are unquesioningly proven
There has been nothing like this
A place larger than our world
Everywhere at once
Yet nowhere at all
With no boundaries
To hold it in
The only limit
Is imagination
